Thrifty 3D Wednesday - Owl Fancy Favor Boxes

It’s time again for my Thrifty 3D Wednesday!  I thought these boxes would be great for little Graduation gifts or Father’s Day, or for the person who loves owls!  They are quick and easy to make!

Supplies for Black Owl:

Bigz XL Fancy Favor DIe
Tasteful Trim XL Die
12x12 Basic Black Cardstock
Daffodil Delight Cardstock
White Craft Ink
Black Mini Brads
3/4, 1 3/8 and 1 3/4 Circle Punches
Piercing Tool
Scoring Tool
Sticky Strip

Supplies for White Owl:

Bigz XL Fancy Favor Die
Tasteful Trim XL Die
12x12 Whisper White Cardstock
Daffodil Delight and Basic Black Cardstock
White Mini Brads
1 1/4 & 1 3/4 Circle Punches
Piercing Tool
Scoring Tool
Sticky Strip

Step 1
Cut Basic Black cardstock to 6x12 and two strips of 1 1/4 x 12.

Step 2
Use Big Shot to cut Fancy Favor Box and two of the scallop trims from the Tasteful Trim Die

Step 3
Cut scallop trim into 4 scallop lengths for a total of 5.  Sponge scallop edge with White Craft Ink.

Step 4
Starting at bottom, adhere scallop strips to front of back.  They will overlap the sides.

Step 5
Trim off the excess scallops from the side of Fancy Favor Box and adhere Fancy Favor box together with Sticky Strip.

Step 6
Squeeze top together and pierce two holes through all layers.  Place two Black Mini Brads to hold box closed.

Step 7
Cut 3 1/4 square of Basic Black cardstock, score in half diagonally.  Cut off one tip and add Daffodil Delight 1” square for beak.   (White owl has black beak.)

Step 8
Punch 1 3/4 Basic Black, 1 3/8 Daffodil Delight and 3/4 Basic Black for layers of eyes.  (White owl is 1 3/4 Daffodil Delight and 1 3/8 Basic Black)

Step 9
Place eyes on back of 3 1/4 square.  Add Sticky Strip on back of beak.  Adhere square to front of Fancy Favor Box.

Step 10
Flap is only adhered on the front.  Back lifts up so that Mini Brads can be opened to get into Fancy Favor Box.

Step 11
Adhere only the back tip with temporary adhesive so it lays flat.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Owl Boxes and make some of your own!  Leave me a comment letting me know if you do!
